This is a MASSIVE STATEMENT piece, and Master Li Yan Ru's VERY PROUD Top Signature Segmental-Corollary ORIGINAL design.   Consummate Master Li is a prodigy Segmental-Corollary Class Specialist Artist.  This Chan Yi Ti Liang's shape embodies the stance, silhouette and posture of a human in Meditation, Seated in a Lotus Flower, and achieving Enlightenment.  The AMAZINGLY Uniformly Round Top Handle symbolises the Enlightenment Halo of Light.
Master Li loves the Avian form as well, which you may have witnessed in her previous, even simpler Gong Deng in Ben Shan Duan Ni.
The spout signifies her love of the Avian in flight.
The handle rising behind it is in the likeness of its wings spread atop,
The indented line organically flowing into the Segmental-Corollary form of the mid body, is also designed by Consummate Master Li to imbue the sense of continuity.  Simple, and breathtakingly beautiful!


Master Li Yan Ru spared no effort at creating this Segmental-Corollary Design with Motifs DENSELY, UNIFORMLY and ELEGANTLY SPREAD ALL over the whole body, requiring mind-boggling detailing work.

The surfacing work that she has to perform ever so slowly, carefully, is gruelling. She has to take care of every mm of surface refining ("上明针") for this work.

The difficulties of a Segmental-Corollary Work, are many,
The details are what bring many a Segmental-Corollary ZiSha work to mediocrity, and what elevates a true maestro:
The undulating contours HAVE to be curvaceous, there cannot be any sudden straight lines detected from the interplay of light and shadows cast on the surfaces.  These curvaceous undulating contours HAVE also to form a direct, distinct and OPPOSING contrast to to the SIX vertical lines (two protruding on the left, one protruding in front and behind, in beautiful contrast to the three indented on the left and three indented on the right).

The knife that cuts through butter: are the shadows: The shadows cast from light angled from around.  She has to screen, screen and screen from all angles, and comb every surface to ensure the smoothness of curves of the undulating surfaces.

Note that 上明针 Shang Ming Zhen (i.e. surface refining) is EXTREMELY difficult RIGHT AT the edges too, whether it is the sharp ended vertical crevice lines, or the sharp-ended vertical protrusion lines.  This is a pain to any Artist doing a Segmental-Corollary Class work.

Surface Refining work (aka 上明针 Shang Ming Zhen) of a fully round Austere pot can be performed almost continuously by the left hand rotating the turntable while the right hand holds the Ming Zhen tool 牛角片.

HOWEVER, a Segmental-Corollary pot cannot be done likewise.  It has to be done differently: with the hand manoeuvring the Ming Zhen tool up and down, up and down, up and down, across the irregular surfaces. And what adds fuel to fire, are that the curves keep changing, and she has to keep changing the angulation of her refining blade and one can never be fast at this stage; It is time-consuming. She has to keep looking at what she had done, after each stroke gingerly applied.

When you see this, you understand how taxing and gruelling the work of Shang Ming Zhen on a Segmental-Corollary Class ZiSha work.

This is a QUINTESSENTIAL TOP EXHIBITIVE SEGMENTAL-COROLLARY TOP HANDLE work and an important learning piece as well for your guests.
There are tons of fake specimens on the market.  These fakes are actually mould-made/half-handmade Segmental-Corollary pieces, flooding the market, posing as, and labelled as, "Fully-Handmade" pieces.
We have purposely taken detailed photos of the inner walls this time, so as to let them "imprint" into your minds how a TRUE FULLY-HANDMADE SEGMENTAL-COROLLARY WORK is to be identified from the inside.  How the fluffiness and creasing combine together at the rim near the base, and then as we extend our observation upwards, how the fluffiness/crumb-like appearance continue but gradually decrease.
